Who Can Benefit?
Sealants are commonly applied to children’s permanent teeth as a preventive measure after they have erupted. However, adults can also receive sealants on healthy teeth. While permanent teeth are more commonly sealed than baby teeth, your dentist will evaluate your individual needs and recommend sealants on a case-by-case basis.
Durability & Maintenance
Sealants typically last three to five years, though some adults may still have sealants from childhood. Sealants provide protection only when fully intact, so if they chip or wear down, schedule an appointment to have them resealed.
